The basic bones are there, build the ship, get resources, jump.  I'm aware there will be pirate fights eventually, but what other activities or goals are planned?  Will there be rare items to search for? Better equipment to make? Items that are better quality comfort givers for the crew?   Planetary excursions?

  • Quick patch to fix remaining hull build restrictions.
  • Fixed grow beds requiring water again on when loading.

  • Fixed build restrictions left by airlock and engine.
  • Fixed hull removing issues, where it would be half done or not at all.
  • Crew will now get food from unsafe storages. Crew cannot eat in * space suit, so they change out of space suit and walk to a safe location to eat. If the environment is unsafe, they will take damage.
  • Fixed issue with moving a craft to a new hangar
  • Fixed issue with cryo pod, where you could wake up people and they'd have cryo sleep condition.
  • NPC Ships should no longer be able to spawn in your ships area.
  • Fixed issue where a shuttle was lost and the hangar still thinks it's there.
  • Fixed pathfinding issue where crew would go a path outside instead of inside the ship
  • Fixed crashing issues.
Use the in-game update in main menu to get the latest version. Be sure to check known bugs in the bug report menu before you submit Smile If you have reported a bug before and it's not fixed or listed no need to report again, we have a back log to fix!   Destructive environment

Hi there,
I've caught up with the alpha yesterday, having been a bit too busy to take part with the Kickstarter.

I have to say after a couple of hours, that the game looks and feel very good. It is much better in this alpha stage than the release version of Spacebase DF-9…

So there is right now this "destructive environment" status starting to pop up over my ship installations just after loading an autosave. Everything was running smooth before savequitting the game.
The status is not much informative, O² and CO² are nominal, so I don't know if there is some game mechanic I'm unaware of, or if I've just encountered a bug.

Any idea?

  Ship Shapes/Canvas

Ok I was just curious if any thought was given regarding this topic.

Currently it's possible to build a ship in any random shape. Now I know in space there's no air/friction whatsoever so I am guessing the shape of a space ship doesn't matter much. But it's a bit weird that we're allowed to build a ship in a completely random shape and it still has no problem to jump into hyperspace?

i was thinking if it was considered whether to have empty ship canvasses; where we can only build inside, restricting us from weird shapes. A bit like Star Drive; where we start off with small hulls, and through research we get access to bigger hulls.

The restriction would, in a way, also improve game play as then we actually have to consider the limited space and not give everybody just a giant bedroom.

Or if that's too restricting, whether maybe fuel consumption will be affected by the shape of a ship. I.E. A cigar shaped ship uses less fuel than a square shaped ship ?

  Portraits / uniqueness

First; in general I love the game and the concepts behind it; I've always been a big fan of X-Com, space, isometric games, Rimworld, etc. So thank you guys for putting so much effort in bringing a game like this to us. Apologies if I talk too much about other games; to be honest I don't think Space Haven brings something new to the table; but it combines elements of other games into a single game, which is why I think it's (potentially) going to be a great game.

One of the things I miss while I was playing is, that I really lack having an emotional connection with my crew. While I have a connection with the ship, because I am designing it and building it, I don't really feel much for the crew. They're there just to build the ship for me and to raid derelicts.

I've seen you guys implemented a very similar structure like rimworld; a log where we can see what's happening in the daily life of the people .. but somehow I can't seem to care. In Rimworld, the negative effects are much more apparent. The would walk much slower; their name would have a different color; they would cause some serious problems, etc. I assume that's going to be in store as well for our Space havenians?

Aside of that; I hope, if it is possible, whether we can have some (dynamic generated) portraits of the people? Currently they're too pixelated for my taste to actually be able to consider them human. Even though rimworld's puppets are really just a blob; the one thing they do have much better is real defined faces and hair. I figure, maybe if we see the portraits of our Astronauts, we can relate more to them?

There needs to be an autosave with a customizable time between saves.  I do save, but it's nice to have an auto just in case.
